Depending on where and how big the hernia is, the scar will either be over the hernia or if it was done keyhole then the scars will be where the keyhole cuts wil be. What anaesthetic will I have and do I have a choice? You usually need a general anaesthetic for this. What are the possible complications and what are the chances that they occur? Similar to other other hernia repairs. Keep in mind that the bigger the hernia, the more likely that it may come back after the operation. Should I not be doing certain things after the operation? Like all hernia repairs, you should not do any heavy lifting.
